Athelstane BellThis larger photograph of the bell after its cleaning, seems so very different to the encrusted bell raised from the wreck of the Athelstane. It's unique pedestal or chair gives some idea of the size of the bell. Carl has had quite a bit of success over the years in term of finding ships bell's, telegraphs, and compass binnacles . Portholes are frequent finds as Carl tends to dive wrecks few divers have dived, such is his determination and drive. I can recall a time some years ago when Carl was diving with Andrew Jackson when they found a small bottle full of GOLD shavings. It was a find that made the many of the regional news centres as well as numerous newspapers. The bottle was duly registered with the "Wreck Receiver" the official body for recovered wrecks item and sent off for analysis. It was so very much a rare and unique find, one that will make a tale to tell as time goes by. Photograph courtesy of Carl Racey
