SS Horsted Plate

It is a lucky diver who finds such a wonderful item like the plate below in shallower water crockery is more likely to be broken with just pieces of earthenware found. Intact plates can be of help when trying to identify a particular wreck, although it is marked with the vessels name, a port of registry and the shipping line flag (emblem) one has to bear in mind that  it is not a fail safe way of positively confirming a ships identity. This plate is remarkably well preserved and no doubt cleaned up really well. A divers partner might not share a divers enthusiasm for such a unique find, although it is a find that would grace any glass display case.
