David Stephens

The Sub Aqua Association (SAA) approached me to write a diver training manual for them, the first in the history of the association. In order to compile a quality manual I looked to the Internet for additional underwater photographers and David was one of those chosen to help me illustrate the manual. It was only right that I make a provision here to display some of his photographs, although it was not easy task choosing from his vast collection. Over the last few years David has captured images from dive sites around the UK and also from many tropical destinations. When he first started out in underwater photography he learnt the basics with traditional cameras before moving onto a Nikonos IV and then a Nikon F90X.

Keen to embrace the digital revolution David has recently taken the plunge and gone digital, using a Nikon D100 in a Sea and Sea housing with a 60mm, 105mm, 20mm or 16mm fish eye lens. Based in Newport, South Wales, David is a PADI divemaster and active member of the Neoprene Dreams Scuba School, Bristol Underwater Photography Group and BSoUP a professional organisation that is the largest underwater photographic society in Britain, catering for both film and digital photographers.
